A hammock is like a short vacation - only more relaxing! Whether in the garden, on the balcony or across the living room, hammocks create a small oasis of calm. Even some offices now have hanging furniture for breaks and to relax while doing creative work.
Our partner organisation in El Salvador was founded in 1974 and since then has been organising the production and sale of traditional Salvadoran handicrafts with a focus on hammocks and related accessories. The organization currently looks after around 30 workshops with a total of around 200 producers.
The weaver groups live outside the capital in some remote regions of El Salvador. Exporsal supports them on site and thus prevents rural exodus and the separation of families.
The artisans receive interest-free loans for the purchase of tools and for other measures to improve working conditions. The children of the producers receive free teaching materials until they graduate from high school. In addition, since 2004 the organisation has been awarding four scholarships to particularly dedicated students.

These hammocks can carry a total weight of up to 120 kg.
