The Story of the Recycled Tyres Baskets (fairtrade)
A sturdy product made of recycled rubber. Indestructibly good. The pots and baskets can be used in- and outdoors to store various items. Strong and functional, whether you are collecting, planting or presenting. To store newspapers, cushions, empty bottles, wood blocks, toys or just anything you can think of.
After having travelled on the bumpy roads between the Euphrates and Tigris for thousands of miles, the used tyres are given a second life. With repetitious perfection the crude material is cut up and reassembled with a needle and coarse thread.
Van Verre Fairtrade has been working with an atelier in Syria for many years. A country which has been greatly affected by war. Despite the conflict, a temporary workshop was set up in the middle of a refugee camp, where the craftsmen work with great courage and passion. It is uncertain if this initiative may last and therefore the recycled tyres might disappear from our collection. Help our courageous craftsmen!
