The Vivielle Throw by Bloomingville is made to be seen. Flowers, leaves and little birds come together in a decorative pattern with a lovely vintage feel, turning a simple throw into an easy way to add colour and character to a room. The warm, slightly faded shades work beautifully with natural woods, rattan, linen and other earthy textures.

Vivielle is a relatively thin, lightweight throw, making it particularly lovely as a styling piece. Drape it loosely over the back or arm of a sofa, layer it across the foot of your bed or use it to soften a favourite chair. The printed front has a textured, woven appearance, while the reverse is plain and chunky fringes finish the edges. At 130 x 160 cm, there is plenty of fabric to create that relaxed, casually thrown-over look.

The main material is recycled cotton, made using cotton leftovers from textile production. These remnants are processed into new fibres rather than simply being discarded, giving existing material another purpose. Because recycled fibres are used, Vivielle has a slightly coarser, more rustic handfeel than a traditional soft cotton blanket. We think that suits its character beautifully, but it is good to know that this is primarily a decorative throw rather than a thick, super-soft blanket to snuggle under.

This mix of recycled fibres creates subtle irregularities in the weave and texture – part of the charm of working with materials that have already had a life before.

A characterful layer for the sofa or bedroom, especially if you love textiles that look a little collected, colourful and wonderfully imperfect.
