The Story of the Vintage Kilim Cushions

These Vintage Kilim Cushions are ethically handmade in Turkey, from vintage Kilim rugs. These cushion covers measure 50x50cm and have a plain organic cotton back with removable back closure. They are sold with or without filling. Each piece is unique.

A ‘Kilim‘ or 'Kelim' is a flat, thin rug with a flatweave, traditionally produced in countries of the former Persian Empire, including Iran, the Balkans and the Turkic countries. Flatweave describes a rug that is woven on a loom rather than knotted. It is created by interlocking warp (vertical) and weft (horizontal) threads. So still very much made by hand - but with a weaving technique, rather than a knotting. Kilims are known for their simple and bold geometric designs. They are low maintenance and super easy to clean.
