Woven in the Azilal region by skilled Berber women, this rug features a unique technique known as 'Henkel'. It blends two layers: a colourful flatwoven base with a soft, white wool layer knotted over the top. The result is a richly textured rug full of contrast, depth and character.

Carefully selected for us by a trusted partner who travels through Morocco sourcing one-of-a-kind pieces. They collaborate with reliable suppliers who provide work to hundreds of women in remote mountain villages. By bidding directly at the criée berbère – the traditional carpet auction in Marrakech – they skip unnecessary middlemen and ensure fair prices for the artisans.  

Due to the handmade nature of these rugs, slight irregularities in shape, pattern or colour may occur – and that’s exactly what makes them so special. Each imperfection tells a story of human hands, heritage and craft.
