These decorative Garlic or Bulawayo Gourd Baskets are handwoven from fibers of the Ilala palm tree by Ndebele women weavers in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Every piece is completely unique.
The Ndebele women have passed down the skills of weaving Garlic gourd baskets from generation to generation. Selling the baskets forms their main source of income. This empowers them and allows them to earn a sustainable livelihood.
