The Geometric Backpack is designed to be a perfect mix of edge and ease. Known as 'Capoterra' to the Wayuu artisans, this backpack is made entirely by hand using techniques that have been passed down through the generations.
The slightly oversized backpack has a round silhouette, completed with a single strap to wear on the shoulder or across the body, and drawstring cords to keep your belongings secured.
The Wayuu
The Wayuu, known as the people of sand, sun and wind, are the largest indigenous ethnic group in Northern Colombia. The region they lived in, La Guajira, although breathtaking with the contrast of the desert sand with the blue ocean water, has been deeply affected by a major drought.
The Wayuu live in small settlements where they preserve the traditional language, culture and customs passed down from generation to generation. A vital aspect of the Wayuu people is the art of weaving, a symbol of wisdom, creativity and intelligence.
By weaving, the Wayuu people can earn an income for their family while at the same time share their culture and traditions with those who are lucky enough to come upon one.
Each Guajii bag is entirely made by hand. Slight variations in size or design are to be expected. Due to the artisanal nature of this product, the base of the bag might be different from the images shown. Each base might have an individual design that serves as the artisan’s personal emblem, making each bag distinctly unique.
